Apple’s latest iOS 17 update introduces a groundbreaking addition that has the potential to revolutionize the way people experience car journeys, particularly for Apple Music users.
With this update, the SharePlay option now becomes available on CarPlay for the first time. This means that individuals can control Apple Music playback not only from the device directly connected to CarPlay via wireless or wired connection but also from another iPhone.
This enhancement is particularly significant for those who rely on wired CarPlay and are unable to pass their iPhone to passengers in the back seat, as it provides a solution to this inconvenience.
To take advantage of this feature, all iPhones involved must have the iOS 17 software installed. Once that requirement is met, users are all set.
Step 1. Launch the Music app on the CarPlay display.
Step 2. Head over to the Now Playing section.
Step 3. Tap on the SharePlay icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 4. Scan the QR code on the screen with another iPhone to initiate the connection process.
Step 5. Now follow the on-screen instruction to join the SharePlay session.
Step 6. Upon the completion of the whole process, everyone has now full control over the music, including features like adding songs to the queue, repeat, and more.
This feature also works on iPads running iPadOS 17 or later.
