PUBG: Battlegrounds is now available free to play. The publishers of a worldwide hit battle royale game have confirmed the earlier rumors to the delight of cohorts of fans in all countries. The Fortnite alternative has completed numerous milestones on its way to global dominance since its arrival back in 2017. Right now the game is playable for free on PC and consoles.
Obviously, the main contention behind this decision has to do with the growth of the community from its already large audience. Another important consideration that acted as a catalyst is the reduction in matchmaking time. That said, the free-to-play model isn’t coming without its limitations.
For one, those who opt for free access have limited features and modes available to them. To unlock the full version, interested players will have to pay a one-time BATTLEGROUNDS Plus fee, currently at $12.99.
Here are the features in the full version of the game:

- Survival Mastery XP +100% boost
- Career – Medal tab
- Ranked Mode
- Creating Custom Matches
- BATTLEGROUNDS Plus includes the following items:
- Captain’s Camo Hat
- Captain’s Camo Mask
- Captain’s Camo Gloves
- Bonus 1300 G-COIN
Members who have already purchased the game will get a free upgrade to BATTLEGROUNDS Plus. In addition, they will receive the following extra rewards:
- Costume skin set
- Battle-hardened Legacy Corset
- Battle-hardened Legacy Jacket
- Battle-hardened Legacy Gloves
- Battle-hardened Legacy Pants

- Shackle and Shanks Legacy – Pan
- Nameplate – Battle-hardened Legacy
These items will be available under the Customize – Utility tab.
Expanding further on the PUBG: Battlegrounds update 15.2, developer KRAFTON shared more information. The creators are bringing a new tactical gear containing a new set of items. All the equipment in this gear has a classification under a primary weapon slot, so players will need to wield prudence before using the weaponry.
For example, a drone scans remote areas allowing players to avoid engagement in direct combat. Whereas EMT gear brings healing benefits for the player’s teammates. Moreover, the Action Queue feature lets players line up a certain action via the corresponding button without disrupting gameplay. For instance, if you press and hold the fire key while reloading, the gun starts shooting immediately at the end of the reload action.
Even better, a new map in PUBG: Battlegrounds, currently codenamed Kiki, is scheduled to arrive in mid-2022.
