PUBG Mobile Reaches 1 Billion Downloads Milestone On Android And iPhone

PUBG Mobile battle royale survival shooter game has crossed the 1 billion downloads mark on iOS and Android. Despite fierce competition from the likes of Fornite, Apex Legends, Garena Free Fire, and a plethora of imitators, PUBG Mobile has held its own when it comes to attracting and maintaining the attention of players across the globe.

Only a few years ago, Fortnite emerged as the biggest challenger to PUBG’s dominance on iPhone and Android. However, Epic Games’ ongoing tussle with Apple and Google over the revenue-sharing agreement resulting in Fortnite’s ban has rendered the battle royale game unplayable on unsupported devices. On top of that, frequently surfacing Fortnite matchmaking error has further contributed to dampening the playing experience.

With PUBG Mobile’s biggest competitors faltering in recent times due to the above-mentioned issues, Tencent  Games has seized the initiative through PUBG: New State and Lite version to expand its player base.

Today, an official announcement from the creators of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds informed the public that the global phenomenon has breached the 1 billion download barrier around the world.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the fact that this stat does not account for China, the populated country on earth as of 2021.

Launched to raucous reception back in 2018, PUBG Mobile quickly reached the summit as the highest-grossing mobile game only a year later in 2019.

To retain players’ interest, Tencent regularly collaborates with outside partners to introduce new features into the gameplay. The latest Godzilla Vs Kong theme is part of the same promotional effort in which players can participate in the game mode and event that is based on the movie that is coming soon.

Along with the news, Tencent also announced a partnership with Godzilla vs. Kong. Players will be able to take part in an in-game event to go along with the upcoming movie, which includes a game mode and themed content. Tencent is also making classic map Karakin open to mobile players on April 7th.

You can download PUBG Mobile from both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for free. Furthermore, there are several in-app purchase options available to gamers through which Tencent earns several millions of dollars each month.
