Game developer HoYoverse, previously known as miHoYo, has unveiled the launch of the Genshin Impact 4.0 update for all gaming platforms. This update, named ‘As Light Rain Falls Without Reason’, introduces the Fontaine region into the game. Specifically, players can explore the Court of Fontaine Region, Beryl Region, and Belleau Region.
To access these regions, players must complete the Archon Quest Prologue: Act III titled “Song of the Dragon and Freedom”. This quest unlocks a Teleport Waypoint in the Sumeru realm of Farakhkert. This Waypoint allows direct travel to Fontaine, and upon its automatic activation, players also receive Primogem rewards.
Thanks to Fontaine’s Blessing, adventurers can venture underwater to uncover hidden areas and unravel enigmas. While in Fontaine, players will earn Hydro Sigils, which can be cast into the Fountain of Lucine (located outside the Opera Epiclese) to enhance its level and gain diverse rewards.
The Genshin Impact 4.0 update introduces three new playable characters: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. Lyney, a 5-star Pyro character, wields a bow and possesses the Elemental Skill “Bewildering Lights” as well as the Elemental Burst “Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade”. Lynette, a 4-star Anemo character, employs a sword and boasts the Elemental Skill “Enigmatic Feint” and the Elemental Burst “Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift”. Freminet, a 4-star Cryo character, wields a claymore and utilizes the Elemental Skill “Pressurized Flow” along with the Elemental Burst “Shadowhunter’s Ambush”.
Furthermore, the update introduces three new domains: the Domain of Forgery: Echoes of Deep Tides (requiring Adventure Rank 16 or higher), the Domain of Blessing: Denouement of Sin (requiring Adventure Rank 22 or higher), and the Domain of Mastery: Pale Forgotten Glory (requiring Adventure Rank 27 or higher).
Additional inclusions consist of two novel bosses showcasing distinct attacks and movements, as well as new weapons, recipes, and more.
Version 4.0 of Genshin Impact brings forth two notable technical enhancements. Firstly, Global Illumination is now automatically accessible on PlayStation 4/5, while it can be toggled on PC provided the system has over 4GB of VRAM.
