According to an official statement from the studio, the number of games played in the free-to-play first-person shooter currently stands at over one billion. For sure a staggering achievement for a multiplayer FPS that resembles Call of Duty in many respects.

It logically follows that an IP that has managed to garner a massive audience in such a short span of time incentives the developer Riot with its wildly positive reception to let the work on a mobile version underway in earnest.

In the meantime, the developers are rolling out a series of celebratory events throughout the month of June to commemorate the game. To know more about it, visit this blog post.

Based on an early preview video, the game seems to adopt a new story along with a theme that blends characters possessing distinct abilities.

Moreover, the popular leaker ‘PlayerIGN’ is of the view that the Valorant mobile release date might not be too far. Most likely, we will hear an official announcement at E2 2021, which is going to commence around mid-June.

It is a very exciting development that the game will arrive on mobile allowing players to enjoy their favorite franchise on the go.

That said, there is still a lot of information that has not seen the light of day yet. Meanwhile, the Valorant community would surely appreciate that the FPS title is expanding its search to mobile platforms.

Speaking on the Valorant mobile launch announcement, Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon said, “One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that Valorant will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter.”

“To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with Valorant is beyond what we could have expected and we are thrilled to soon offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more global players,” she added.

While providing excitement for Valorant fans, the confirmation means that established properties in the genre such as PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, Free Fire, and others will have a tough rival soon.
