Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends Wild Rift and several other hit games, have confirmed that the creator of LOL Mobile and Legends of Runeterra is bringing the mobile version of its successful VALORANT 5v5 character-based tactical shooter.
After racking up over 14 million registered players in just one year since the launch on PC, it was only a matter of time before VALORANT mobile coming to Android and iOS to bring more players into the fold.
According to an official statement from the studio, the number of games played in the free-to-play first-person shooter currently stands at over one billion. For sure a staggering achievement for a multiplayer FPS that resembles Call of Duty in many respects.
It logically follows that an IP that has managed to garner a massive audience in such a short span of time incentives the developer Riot with its wildly positive reception to let the work on a mobile version underway in earnest.

In the meantime, the developers are rolling out a series of celebratory events throughout the month of June to commemorate the game. To know more about it, visit this blog post.
Based on an early preview video, the game seems to adopt a new story along with a theme that blends characters possessing distinct abilities.
Moreover, the popular leaker ‘PlayerIGN’ is of the view that the Valorant mobile release date might not be too far. Most likely, we will hear an official announcement at E2 2021, which is going to commence around mid-June.
It is a very exciting development that the game will arrive on mobile allowing players to enjoy their favorite franchise on the go.
That said, there is still a lot of information that has not seen the light of day yet. Meanwhile, the Valorant community would surely appreciate that the FPS title is expanding its search to mobile platforms.
Speaking on the Valorant mobile launch announcement, Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon said, “One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that Valorant will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter.”
“To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with Valorant is beyond what we could have expected and we are thrilled to soon offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more global players,” she added.
Valorant is out on PC. A mobile version is currently in development.
