Not much else is known about the console as of yet. Although the listing does mention hardware specs which might well be just speculations based on rumors at this point.

Information about the release date is missing from the listing as Sony has not confirmed when it is going to launch its PS4 successor console in the market.

The current pricing seems excessive but this could also be due to the retailer simply putting up a placeholder bid page for Sony’s PS5, instead of a pre-order point-of-sale.

Whether the next-gen PlayStation console will be a high powered device or not, the likelihood is low that even the most die-hard PlayStation fans would be willing to shell out close to a thousand bucks ($1000USD) on a game console.

PlayStation 5 Hardware:

So far what we have learned from various media appearances of Sony representatives is that the console “will be appealing in light of its advanced feature set”, as stated by the company’s Mark Cerny.

In an exclusive interview given to Wired, Cerny revealed that the PlayStation 5 will be a big leap forward from the Sony PS4 in terms of hardware performance. “The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture,” says Cerny in the article. He further adds, “the GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing, a technique that models the travel of light to simulate complex interactions in 3D environments.”

Besides the big boost to CPU and GPU performance, Sony has another trump card up its sleeves – “a true game-changer” – which is a custom SSD to cut down loading time to virtually nothing. Several game developers have already lauded the console’s capabilities.

Some other recent rumors indicate that the PlayStation 5’s Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) is not only better than the one housed inside the PS4 but it also delivers superior performance to that of NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 GPU.
