How To Use Checkra1n To Jailbreak iOS 14.2 On iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch [2020]

Here is how to jailbreak iOS 14.2 a step by step guide that you can also use to jailbreak iPadOS 14.2 firmware using the latest version of Checkra1n for jailbreaking iOS devices powered by the bootrom-based checkm8 exploit.

First, you must make sure that you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 as well as a Mac computer to run the checkra1n app to properly perform jailbreak without errors.

Checkra1n For iOS 14.2:

iOS 14 jailbreak is keeping pace with Apple’s latest release on devices that are compatible with the checkm8 exploit, which was present on nearly every chip designed by Apple and proved instrumental for clearing the way to a non-patchable jailbreak on millions of iOS devices.

It means you can now use the steps below on iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 devices that work with the checkra1n tool.

In the official statement accompanying the release of the software, the team of developers has stated that it needs “more time to work around new security mitigation” that Apple recently added before it can manage to crack the code to make jailbreaking iOS 14 possible on newer devices.

In ‌iOS 14‌, Apple added a new mitigation to SEPOS on A10 and above (except on Apple TVs and iBridge): if the device was booted from DFU mode and the Secure Enclave receives a request to decrypt user data, it will panic the device. Since checkm8 does not give us control over the Secure Enclave, this is not trivial to workaround. However, with the recently published blackbird vulnerability, we are able to get control of the Secure Enclave on A10 and A10X and disable this mitigation. Support for A10 and A10X devices is being worked on and is expected to be ready in the coming weeks.

That said, you should also note that Checkra1n 0.11.0 jailbreak supports the following devices and the iOS operating system versions.

Jailbreak iOS 14.2 Using Checkra1n 0.11.0 – How-To [Guide]:

Here are the steps to use Checkra1n 0.11.0 to jailbreak iOS 14.2 devices:

Step 1 – First, you need to download the latest version of the jailbreak tool from the official source. On your browser, go to checkra.in or GitHub link here and save the Checkra1n tool on your device.

Step 2 – Now head over to the Downloads folder (or your default download location) to find the DMG file of the downloaded app and move it to your Application folder.

Step 3 – If you get the application isn’t supported or isn’t trusted, perform the following steps to fix the issue. Otherwise, skip to the Step-4:

  • Go to the System Preferences app and select the Security & Privacy option.
  • Now select Open Anyway followed by Open and type in your administrator password when asked.
  • Once done, try to launch the Checkra1n app which should work without any issues.

Step 4 – Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac computer using the original Lightning cable.

Step 5 – Hit the Start button in the Checkra1n app and then press OK.

Step 6 – Now click Next and follow the instructions on the screen to allow the app to put your device into the DFU mode. The time required to finish this step varies depending on the type of iOS device you’re using so keep this in mind.

Step 7 – As soon as checkra1n detects that your device has entered the DFU mode, it will begin the jailbreak process in the background. Your iPhone or iPad will reboot multiple times during the jailbreaking.

Step 8 – Once your device is jailbroken, unplug it from your computer and start the Checkra1n app.

Step 9 – Hit the Cydia icon and install Cydia to get the Cydia store with jailbreak tweaks onto your device.

That’s all. As mentioned above, it is quite easy to jailbreak iOS 14.2 using checkra1n 0.11.0 on compatible iPhone and iPad.
