It’s been a while since any concrete information regarding Apple’s upcoming devices surfaced online, particularly after the release of iPhone X and iPhone 8/8 Plus late last year. Apple has kept things tightly under wrap, especially after announcing a renewed commitment to initiate a severe clampdown on leaks about its unfinished products that give competitors an advantage. This step has resulted in a relatively quiet on “leaks” front as far as the new Apple products are concerned. Previous rumors hinted at a design overhaul that seem to have been quashed by these supposed leaked images as it can clearly be seen that the phone carries the same iPhone 5 and 5S aesthetics. Other reports mentioned this year’s device to feature some minor hardware upgrades to keep the cost down and the sale price withing an affordable range. So-Called Leaked Images of iPhone SE 2 Show A Largely Similar Device To The Previous Model With A Glass Back to Support Wireless Charging And The 3.5mm Headphone Jack
These new images shared online by LetemSvetemApplem on Chinese social media confirm prior reports regarding the device’s design which remains similar to the previous model of iPhone SE. Only difference in terms of the overall build quality relates to a glass back replacing an aluminum chassis of 2017 model. This is done to include the wireless charging support similar to the one available on iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Another thing that becomes apparent from these photos is that the 3.5mm headphone jack stays in its place on this year’s iteration of the low-cost iPhone.
The source of these pictures is somewhere in China, which casts some doubt over their authenticity. This is corroborated by the omission of the regulatory FCC logos underneath where ‘iPhone’ is written on the back. These images also fly in the face of recent reports claiming that Apple is set to abandon the 3.5mm headphone jack on its iPhone SE 2. Higher-end models of iPhone don’t feature the headphone port since 2016, which led analysts to believe that the iPhone SE 2 would soon follow the same trend.
On the front side of the device, there is next to no change in the design of the upcoming iPhone SE 2. There does not seem much change in the Touch ID, camera, screen size and resolution. Rumors suggest that the A10 Fusion chipset will power the device
In the end, contradictory reports raise the possibility that the final design could be slightly different from the one being predicted.
