Genshin Impact Reveals Several New Characters With Sumeru’s Desert And Jungle Regions

Genshin Impact version 3.0 is shaping up to be one of the most radical overhauls in the role-playing game‘s history yet. Since its launch, the mobile RPG has checked multiple milestones, earning a billion dollars plus, on its way to becoming the most tweeted game of this year leaving behind several high-profile names. And now developers have shared new information regarding the all-new Sumeru region that is coming soon in conjunction with the Dendro element based on the plant theme. HoYoverse is teasing new features in the big update as the release date approaches ever so close.

First up, here is a detailed preview video of the Dendro element.

Next up, check out the Sumeru region bedecked with its flora and fauna, including the heretofore unseen desert region.

But we are talking about Genshin Impact, and this means new characters grab the most attention. HoYoverse has already provided a glimpse of characters in the Sumeru region, namely the Dori merchant, Collei the ranger, and Tighnari the forest watcher. But if you focus on the end of the video below, you’ll notice a number of new characters making their first appearance. The preview teaser presents Tighnari in a new light along with the first reveal of Dehya, Cyno, Nilou, Alhaitham, and Nahida. Of course, some leaks have already unveiled a few of these characters but this marks the first official look at them.

Here is a bit more information about each of the new characters…

genshin impact alhaitham

Alhaitham is a master researcher who is from the Sumeru Akedemiya and meets you in Port Ormos.

genshin impact dehya

Then comes Dehya who is a mercenary belonging to the desert dewlling Eremite people.

genshin impact nilou

Next up, Nilou the dancer who opposes the rational approach that the inhabitants of Sumeru champion.

genshin impact nahida

Nahida remained shrouded in mystery during the first look and thus appropriately described as a “mysterious girl.”

genshin impact cyno

Cyno is referred to as the “General Mahamtra,” with no further details as to what that name implies offered during the preview clip.

In short, new entrants seem promising from the gameplay standpoint. To clarify, not all of the characters will make their entrance in update 3.0, as Genshin creators will continue to put main emphasis on improving the Sumeru region for several updates. You should expect these heroes, beside the already confirmed Dori and Collei, to become playable over the course of multiple updates. In addition to these new enteries into the roaster, there are some characters in the Sumeru region we are yet to see.

Genshin Impact is out now on PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. The most recent update, version 2.8 is available on all platforms. HoYoverse may skip version 2.9 and jump straight ahead to the update 3.0 expected to see the light of day in August. That said, in case version 2.9 does arrive in August then mark early October on your calendar for the big 3.0 update.
