Developer Ubisoft has officially unveiled a new game in the popular Assassin’s Creed series. The next title in the franchise, known as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, takes us all the way back to its original roots and is coming out in 2023. Following the grand success of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which is the highest-earning Assassin’s Creed game to date, the upcoming adventure will focus on a narrative experience taking players on a journey to become the ultimate assassin while traversing streets of the 9th-century Baghdad.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s main storyline revolves around the lead character Basim Is’haq in a time period that precedes events unfolded in Valhalla by 20 years. The twist comes when Basim decides to give up his petty scoundrel lifestyle in favor of joining the Hidden Ones. And thus begins his quest to master unique abilities while attempting to grasp an obscure Creed that will usher upheavals that will bear influence his fate in all sorts of unpredictable ways.

In essence, the game harkens back to the first Assassin’s Creed games in that the playtime will be shorter but more narrative-driven compared to other games in the series.

Mirage stays true to the initial titles with its sprawled urban environment providing players the opportunity to jump across rooftops, leap tall vertical towers, and try to evade chasing guards as they test their parkour skills.

When gathering useful information becomes difficult, Basim releases his eagle Enkidu which will fly in the sky to survey areas and pinpoint enemies for the protagonist to quietly eliminate.

The launch of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set for 2023 with no information about the release date available for now. It is coming to all major PC and console platforms such as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Amazon Luna, and Steam. Ubisoft+ subscribers can also access the game on a PC. Moreover, the game will also arrive with a deluxe edition, which features the base game, a digital soundtrack, a digital artbook, and a deluxe digital pack containing an outfit inspired by Prince of Persia.

Furthermore, the game will have a Collector’s Case Edition, which has a bundle including the Deluxe Edition coupled with a 32cm figurine of Basim, a map of Baghdad, Basim’s brooch replica, a selected soundtrack, a mini-artbook, an exclusive Steelbook with a fan selected design.
