Google Confirms Android Games For PC Windows Arriving In 2022! Learn More Here

Google has officially confirmed that it is bringing Android Games to Windows PCs in 2022. A dedicated Google Play Games app will come with mobile games that users can play on bigger displays of their desktop and laptop devices. This is great news especially considering a large chunk of mobile games these days are now on par with many indie PC titles in terms of quality. So those who wished to have the experience of playing their favorite smartphone games on a computer should find the announcement rejoicing.

Although there are alternatives that allow you to run Android games on your PC via third-party emulators such as BlueStacks, Microsoft wants to cut the middleman in an effort to make it easier to get Android games on Windows 11. However, many find it far from an ideal solution.

That said, a much more satisfactory option is just around the corner. This takes the form of a Goole Play Games app for Windows PCs. Google is currently in the process of building the standalone app, with the capability of natively running Android apps on Windows-powered machines, instead of streaming them from the cloud.

One special feature that many gamers would appreciate is the ability to pause a game on your mobile phone or tablet and later resume on your PC.

Introducing the app, Google’s product director of games Greg Hartrell gave an overview of the concept in the following terms:

Starting in 2022, players will be able to experience their favorite Google Play games on more devices: seamlessly switching between a phone, tablet, Chromebook, and soon, Windows PCs. This Google built product brings the best of Google Play Games to more laptops and desktops, and we are thrilled to expand our platform for players to enjoy their favorite Android games even more. […] This will be a native Windows app distributed by Google, which will support Windows 10 and up. It will not involve game streaming.

As an avid mobile gaming enthusiast, I am really looking forward to this integration between mobile and PC ecosystems. There are numerous mobile indie titles one can enjoy a bit more on computers. Moreover, it will also help trim the cost for smaller developers as they had to port games before releasing them on Steam in order to facilitate PC gameplay.
