Tencent has released PUBG Mobile replacement ‘Game for Peace” in China as an alternative to its popular battle royale game. Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds PUBG Mobile gets a revamped version with new elements exclusive only to players in Chinese. The Game for Peace iOS version is already the most downloaded top-grossing game in the Chinese App Store, according to Sensor Tower. Tencent is one of the world’s biggest game publishers by revenue. This change of title and the addition of new elements is in response to compliance with the local Chinese laws in order to monetize in-app purchases.

China has also introduced stricter local laws that bar the transmission of violent, politically motivated, explicit, and other types of content deemed inappropriate by the authorities, from TV, radio, and video games. As an act of compliance with the government’s initiative to protect children from harmful content and curb gaming addiction, Game for Peace will be available to players aged 16 or above.
Moreover, the company has issued a statement mentioning that the gameplay will be limited to two hours per day for players between 16 to 18 years of age. Game for Peace is launched as a tribute to the People’s Liberation Army Air Force defending the country’s territory.
